Torre Abbey Sands

Take a break beside the bay at Torre Abbey Sands, along the seafront between the station side and the harbour. The promenade is useful even when the tide leaves little sand, making this an adaptable outdoor stop after the abbey or a walk through the park.

Use the promenade when the tide is high. Check the tide, weather and current water-quality notices before going onto the sand or entering the sea.

Tickets and booking: No general beach admission. Check tides, water-quality notices and dog rules; the council lists a May–September beach dog restriction. Food, parking, equipment and organised water activities cost extra and have their own conditions.
Access and getting around: The council lists steps, ramps and revetments down from the road, with wheelchair suitability to the promenade. Sand is a different surface and should not be assumed suitable for an ordinary chair. Use proper road crossings between the gardens and shore.

Visiting with children: Supervise children at the water’s edge and on the large sea-defence steps. Check current beach notices and patrol provision before considering a swim. A shore-side pause with snacks can be enough without entering the water.
