Ventnor Beach and esplanade
Take Ventnor’s seafront at a slower pace: a beach pause, a short esplanade walk and time to sit over food or a drink. The setting beneath the hillside is the attraction, so there is no need to turn a simple seaside visit into a long coastal walk. Choose your arrival route with the climb back into town in mind.
Before you go
Check current beach and seafront notices, particularly during coastal survey works. Sea conditions and tides determine what is sensible; a pleasant promenade does not guarantee safe swimming.

- Ordinary beach and esplanade access needs no ticket. Parking, food and hire are separate. Follow local restrictions and do not treat old beach-safety staffing notices as a current lifeguard guarantee.
- Access and getting around
- The town’s approaches are steep and beach surfaces differ from the esplanade. Plan suitable parking or a drop-off and check the route back; do not assume a short map distance is an easy walk.

- Keep children close beside the sea and choose a manageable beach session. Check facilities and conditions before promising paddling, and bring suitable clothing for a windy finish.
