Steephill Cove
Visit Steephill Cove when you want a smaller coastal setting and are happy to walk in and out. The cottages, shore and sea views make it different from Ventnor’s road-accessible esplanade, but its limited access means it needs a little more planning. Leave time to sit and enjoy the place rather than treating it as a quick drive-by stop.
There is no vehicle access to the cove. Check your walking route, tide and weather, and remember that the return involves the same climb or steps you came down.

- Ordinary access to the cove is free. Parking and refreshments cost separately, and many eateries close outside the main season. Follow current coastal-path signs rather than assuming every onward route is open.
- Access and getting around
- Foot-only approaches can involve slopes and steps, and the beach has uneven surfaces. Check the exact route for your mobility needs; nearby parking does not create step-free access to the shore.

- Carry what you need and plan the return before children become tired. Supervise near water and rocks, and do not assume seasonal cafés will be open for food or toilets.
