Wells Lifeboat Station
The modern lifeboat station stands near the beach end of the harbour bank. When volunteers open the visitor areas, ground-floor displays and the viewing gallery explain the local rescue service and offer a closer look at its working base. It pairs naturally with a beach visit, but operational duties always take priority over sightseeing.
Check visitor opening before making the beach-bank journey specifically for the station. The RNLI currently says the first-floor viewing platform is accessible only by stairs; confirm any change directly if you need lift access.

- General visitor entry is free when open, with donations welcome. Volunteer opening varies, and operations can close the station at short notice. Occasional free guided tours require advance booking through the station’s Eventbrite link.
- Access and getting around
- The shop has level ground-floor access and there are ground-floor displays. The current RNLI notice limits the upper viewing platform to stairs, despite older local information mentioning a lift. Public paid parking is opposite, with no visitor parking at the station.

- A short look at the rescue equipment and displays can work well with children. Do not promise a launch or a boat in a particular position; keep clear of operational areas and follow volunteers’ instructions.
