Wells Maltings Heritage Centre
Inside the arts centre on Staithe Street, the free Heritage Centre explains Wells through local stories, photographs and interactive material. Its two galleries make a useful introduction to the harbour outside, with family activities to vary the pace. The wider building also hosts exhibitions, performances and films, giving you a reason to check the programme as well as the permanent displays.
Visit the heritage galleries during the daytime, preferably before 4pm. Evening opening follows the performance programme and does not mean the free Heritage Centre stays open.

- General Heritage Centre entry is free. Films, talks and performances are separate events with their own tickets; check availability before promising a screening as a rainy-day activity.
- Access and getting around
- Ramped entry, level ground-floor spaces and a lift to the first floor are provided, with accessible toilets on both floors. The auditorium balcony has three steps; request suitable seating for a booked show.

- Dress-up activities and a Smugglers Trail give children something to do alongside the local-history displays. Keep a younger child’s visit short, then take a snack break; ticketed family events have their own age and booking information.
