St Cuthbert’s Church
The parish and civic church at the western end of the centre offers a different view of Wells from the cathedral. Look up at the painted roof and angels, then examine the carved Jacobean pulpit and surviving framework of the medieval reredoses. Some sculptural fragments and guided visits need an arrangement with the church, so a casual visit should focus on what is openly displayed.
Do not confuse the tall tower with the cathedral, and do not assume it is open to climb. Check services before sightseeing and contact the church ahead if you want to see particular sculpture fragments.

- Ordinary entry is free, with donations welcome. The church advertises daily visitor opening, but its pages differ on the summer closing time, so confirm before a late visit. Services and events take priority. Arrange guided visits or viewing of particular sculpture fragments with the parish.

- The church lists a ramp, accessible toilet, hearing loop, large-print resources and assistance-dog access. Contact the parish to confirm the best entrance and any specific route requirements. These facilities do not establish access to the tower or every historic area.
