Whitstable Vintage Lifeboat Trips
The Chieftain is a historic former lifeboat used for commercial trips from Whitstable Harbour. Choose a short bay outing or a longer seal safari, giving the sailing its own space in the day. Wildlife sightings depend on the animals and conditions.
Use the toilets ashore before boarding: this is an open boat without a toilet or shelter.

- Seal trips should be booked ahead; bay trips may be available on the day. Sailing depends on weather and tides and can be cancelled close to departure. Rain alone does not necessarily cancel a trip. Check the operator’s current schedule.
- Access and getting around
- Boarding involves a sloping gangway and two or three steps; the operator cannot accommodate wheelchairs. Discuss individual boarding needs before paying. The open deck has no sheltered cabin for passengers.

- Lifejackets are supplied and children under ten must wear them. Ask about current child fares; the short bay trip may suit limited attention spans better than the seal outing.
