Tickets and booking: General admission is paid and current tickets include return entry for twelve months; under-fives and essential carers enter free. Usually open Tuesday–Sunday. Small independent gallery visits need no advance booking, but painting has limited seats and separate terms. Some temporary exhibitions close for private events; check the visit notice.
Access and getting around: The current notice says the nineteenth-century gallery, exhibition hall and accessible toilet can be reached by wheelchair, but the connecting platform lift to other galleries is out of service. Ask staff to confirm the route for your needs. Loan wheelchairs are subject to availability.

Visiting with children: The sensory trail and interactive displays offer children a focus beyond looking at cabinets. Pottery painting needs an accompanying adult; budget for a studio seat and the chosen ceramic, and arrange collection or paid postage after firing. Finished pieces are not taken home that day.
