Aberaeron Seafront and Beaches

Spend time on the seafront for sea views and a short coastal walk, choosing the side of the harbour that suits conditions. These are predominantly pebble, shingle and rocky shores, with the sea changing what is exposed. The pleasure is often in the views and movement of the water rather than an expectation of a broad sandy playground.

Before you go

Recent coastal-defence and harbour work means local notices matter. Stay on open routes, keep away from machinery and exposed edges, and do not rely on an old beach photograph for current access.

Where to find it: North and South beaches, Aberaeron, Ceredigion

Tickets and booking: Beach access is free. Check tides, weather, temporary works and current dog notices; restrictions differ between sections and seasons.
Access and getting around: The seafront route and access onto loose shingle are different experiences. South Beach has a steep bank; choose surfaced viewpoints if uneven stones or gradients are unsuitable.

Visiting with children: Plan for pebbles rather than promising sandcastles. Supervise closely near the sea and harbour; use a land-based visit when conditions are rough and do not assume lifeguards are present.
