Aberdeen Maritime Museum

Use the Maritime Museum to understand the working harbour and the industries that shaped Aberdeen. The displays move between shipping, fishing and offshore work, with the museum’s position above the harbour helping connect objects to a living setting. Give the subject time rather than using the museum only as a quick escape from rain.

Tickets and booking: General admission is free; check any special event separately. Regular hours are Monday–Saturday 10am–5pm and Sunday 11am–4pm, subject to holiday changes.
Access and getting around: There is an accessible entrance and a lift to most floors, but parts of Provost Ross’s House are not reached by lift and require stairs. Seating and accessible toilets are available; use the detailed access guide to plan a suitable route.

Visiting with children: Large objects, models and selected interactive displays can give children a focus. Plan a food break separately rather than expecting every child to work through all the displays.
