Botanic Gardens, Palm House & Tropical Ravine

The Palm House gives this south Belfast park a striking centrepiece, while the Tropical Ravine offers a closer look at plants under glass. Combine a short glasshouse visit with the flower beds and trees outside. This is a useful breathing space beside the Ulster Museum, rather than a reason to rush back across the city.

Before you go

Check glasshouse last admission separately from the park gates. A park that is still open does not mean you can enter either glasshouse, and winter daylight reduces time outside.

Where to find it: College Park, Botanic Avenue, Belfast BT7 1LP. Entrances include University Road and Botanic Avenue.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary park and glasshouse visits are free. Check current opening and any separately organised event before setting out.
Access and getting around: The Tropical Ravine has a lift to its exhibition walkway and an accessible toilet; some doors are manual. Ground-floor ravine access is limited. Confirm the Palm House route separately if required.

Visiting with children: Pick out a few contrasting leaf shapes in the glasshouses, then leave time outside. Supervise children around plants and respect the displays; this is a garden visit rather than an indoor play centre.
