BROADWAY GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway outing / BROADWAY

Heritage railway from Broadway

Board at Broadway’s rebuilt heritage station for a journey through the Cotswold landscape towards Toddington, Winchcombe and Cheltenham Race Course. The full line takes around an hour each way, with shorter journeys possible when the timetable allows. Make the railway the main outing and choose your return before leaving the platform.

Before you go

Check the dated timetable, not just a general opening page. Some early or late services end at an intermediate station, and steam or diesel operation can change. Allow the railway’s recommended 20–30 minutes before departure for parking and boarding.

The practical details

Where to find it
Broadway Station, Station Road, Broadway WR12 7DF
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Buy the appropriate rover or return ticket and check which trains run on your date. One essential carer can travel free with a fare-paying disabled passenger, with meal extras separate. Broadway parking is council pay-and-display across the road. This heritage line is not a direct mainline service to central Cheltenham.
Access and getting around
Broadway has a sloping approach from the council car park and designated platform crossings with staff assistance. Most services have accessible spaces, allocated first come; confirm your service and chair dimensions ahead. Ramps have size/weight limits. Accessible toilets are at the main stations, not on the heritage trains.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Keep children back from platform edges and prepare for whistles and sudden steam noise. Ask the guard about buggy storage; do not block doors or corridors. Use station toilets and baby changing before boarding, and choose a shorter return if a full-line trip would be too much.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 3–5 hours for a relaxed longer outing; shorter trips vary for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
