BURY ST EDMUNDS GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Museums & local history / BURY ST EDMUNDS

Moyse’s Hall Museum

This medieval building houses a varied local collection, from the town and St Edmund to clocks, military history and crime and punishment. Choose it when you want an indoor visit with enough different subjects to follow your own interests. Some displays are macabre, so families should ask about the content rather than treating every gallery as equally suitable. Changing exhibitions can give a return visit a different focus.

Before you go

Check the exhibition programme before arriving, then leave time for lunch around the town centre. You can make the museum the main visit and keep the gardens optional rather than buying another ticket immediately afterwards.
