Before you go

Plan for a Tuesday-to-Saturday visit: the museum’s current public schedule does not include Sundays or Mondays. A short visit works better than discovering this after walking down Lensfield Road.

Tickets and booking: General entry is free. Check the current opening notice, and book organised groups in advance. There is no need to turn this into a full-day commitment.
Access and getting around: The ground-floor museum has a ramped side entrance via the right side of the building. The official access page includes visual stories and an accessible toilet; ask ahead to use handling materials or reserve the accessible parking space.

Visiting with children: Exploration equipment and survival stories may appeal to school-age children. Buggies are welcome but must remain attended; allow time to explain unfamiliar objects rather than relying on every display to be interactive.
