A textile-craftsmanship visit →
Let a booked working-mill experience set the day’s pace.
A booked look at textile craftsmanship / ELGIN
Book a guided mill experience to understand how fibres become finished cloth in a working textile setting. The appeal is the process and the people’s skills, not simply a visit to a shop. Choose the format that matches your interest and allow time to arrive without rushing. Retail browsing and refreshments are separate choices and do not substitute for a reserved production tour.

Current guided experiences are paid. Older descriptions of free mill tours should not be used to plan your budget or arrival.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow about 1 hour for the standard experience, plus arrival for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
