Sueno’s Stone

Look closely at the battle scenes and intricate carving on this enormous early medieval cross-slab. Its protective glass enclosure preserves the stone while allowing a view from outside, so this is a short outdoor history stop rather than an indoor museum. Give the details a little time instead of only taking a photograph of its height.

The glass enclosure is protection for the stone, not a visitor shelter. Dress for an outdoor visit.
