LEDBURY GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A planned castle and outdoor family outing / NEAR LEDBURY

Eastnor Castle and grounds

Give Eastnor enough time to be the main outing rather than a quick addition to Ledbury’s lanes. Castle rooms, grounds and outdoor play offer different ways to spend a visit, depending on the ticket and what your group enjoys. Choose a few priorities and allow a proper break instead of trying to finish every activity.

Before you go

Book a real opening date: Eastnor is seasonal and not open daily. The published September 2026 pattern is Sunday and Monday through 28 September; later visits need a new calendar check.

Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Choose Castle & Grounds or an eligible Grounds Only ticket; the latter is not sold for Sundays. Online booking is recommended for guaranteed entry on open days. Check the exact ticket and event before assuming all estate activities or private operations are included.
Access and getting around
The grounds have gravel and steep areas. Access to state rooms uses a stair climber requiring transfer into its wheelchair; upper-floor lift operation is restricted on bank holidays. Pushchairs are not permitted inside the castle. Read the full access advice before booking.

Visiting with children
Outdoor play and the maze can make the visit, so dress for the weather and choose equipment suited to your children. Castle interiors and grounds have different hours; a wet day does not turn the outdoor offer into indoor play.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 3–4 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
