Carreg Cennen Castle

Make the castle above Trapp the main purpose of a fair-weather outing. The climb and exposed position are part of the experience, with time needed to explore the ruins and return comfortably. The cave passage is an optional additional challenge, not something every visitor must attempt to enjoy the castle.

Check the operator’s current opening and admission terms. This jointly managed site does not accept every free-entry scheme, and the steep cave route needs suitable footwear and a proper torch.

Tickets and booking: Paid admission with current concessions checked directly. Cadw directs visitors to the castle operator for up-to-date facilities, hours and prices; do not assume all membership schemes or toilets are available.
Access and getting around: A steep approach, uneven historic steps and exposed drops make access demanding. The cave adds darkness, slippery ground, low rock and narrow sections; it is not a wheelchair or buggy route.

Visiting with children: Best for children who can manage the climb with close supervision. Make the cave optional and turn back if anyone is uncomfortable with darkness, footing or the return ascent.
