Town stories and a chosen Dinefwr visit →
A compact local plan with one main estate experience.
Welsh princely history above the Tywi Valley / LLANDEILO
Walk through the estate towards the castle to explore a place closely associated with the rulers of Deheubarth. The wooded approach and hilltop setting give the surviving walls their meaning. You can choose a parkland outing without making the castle climb, while Newton House is a different, paid visit within the same estate.

The castle approach is steep in parts and Cadw grades the terrain strenuous. Check Cadw’s castle hours separately from the National Trust’s wider parkland opening.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1½–2½ hours with the approach for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
