Give paintings your full attention in the galleries above Trafalgar Square. Choose a handful of pictures or a period you enjoy, then take a break before your attention fades. This is a rewarding first London art visit without a general admission charge.

Check the current floorplan if a particular painting matters to you: building work means some rooms close and works move. The main visitor entrance is in the Sainsbury Wing.

Tickets and booking: Book a free general ticket for fast-track entry; walk-up entry is also available. Some exhibitions cost extra. Security checks still apply.
Access and getting around: The Sainsbury Wing has step-free entry and lifts serve the galleries. Use the access guide to plan the station-to-entrance journey; the nearest Tube stop is not automatically the best step-free choice.

Visiting with children: Buggies are welcome and baby-changing facilities are provided. Pick a few pictures to talk about together; check the family programme for any dated sessions.
