Savernake at an easy pace →
A forest half-day that leaves the length of the walk flexible and treats the current forestry notices as part of planning.
A separate woodland outing south of town / NEAR MARLBOROUGH
Choose a walk among veteran trees and varied woodland habitats, beginning from an established access point such as Postern Hill. The forest is large enough to deserve its own plan, with a map and a route matched to your group. A short walk and picnic can be more rewarding than searching for every named tree.

Forestry England’s current notice describes work begun in July 2026 and possible temporary closures. Follow barriers and signs even when machinery is not visible.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1½–3 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
