Start with the part children are most likely to enjoy: Higginson Park’s play area and space for a picnic. Keep a riverside wander short and supervise closely beside the water, then use food and rest before deciding whether to continue. If the museum is open, choose a few objects or a question to explore together rather than expecting it to fill several hours. Its current home is Court Garden, not the summer pop-up, and winter opening is much narrower than the park’s availability. A short bridge-and-town walk can fit around these stops, but pavements and traffic make it different from an enclosed play space. Cliveden works as the main day when you want more outdoor room, with a route chosen around your children’s stamina and any pushchair or mobility needs. The formal gardens and play area are more manageable than assuming everyone can descend to the river and climb back. Plan the transfer, admission and food before leaving, and check activity availability. In rain, shorten the Marlow plan rather than promising indoor play at a garden estate.
