North Berwick Harbour and Beaches

Walk around the public harbour area and choose a section of the nearby beach or seafront that suits the tide and your time. Milsey Bay gives views towards Bass Rock, while the town is close enough for a food break without turning the outing into a long coastal hike. You can enjoy the shore from firm paths if sand or rocks are unsuitable.

Before you go

Check sea conditions and keep clear of working harbour edges. A beach visit is not a guarantee of safe swimming, and wet rocks can be slippery.

Tickets and booking: No ordinary shore admission ticket is required. Town parking charges changed in June 2026; use current council information and posted signs, not older claims of free central parking.
Access and getting around: Seafront paths, harbour edges, sand and rocky shore have different access limitations. Choose a suitable surfaced section rather than assuming the whole beach is wheelchair accessible. The tourism body identifies accessible toilets at Quality Street.

Visiting with children: Sand play and a short shore exploration can suit families, with adults watching tides and supervising near water. Keep rockpool visits gentle and return wildlife where found.
