PONTYPRIDD GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A seasonal outdoor swim to book ahead / PONTYPRIDD

Lido Ponty

Book a pool session when swimming is the purpose of the trip, then use the neighbouring park for food and a slower finish. Different pools and session types make this a more deliberate outing than dropping into a playground. The historic outdoor setting is part of the appeal, but it remains exposed to the weather.

Before you go

The published 2026 main-season timetable ended on 13 September. Check the next available dates before travelling; winter cold-water sessions are different from summer family swimming.

The practical details

Where to find it
Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd CF37 4PE
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Everyone going poolside needs the appropriate swim or spectator ticket. Activity bands may cost extra, and inflatables depend on conditions. Choose a dated session rather than relying on general summer opening text.
Access and getting around
Consult the council’s venue access statement and discuss pool-entry assistance and changing requirements before booking. There is no on-site parking, so include the route from a public car park or the station.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Read the current adult-to-child ratios before buying tickets: under-fives require an adult each, and non-confident swimmers need supervision regardless of age. Winter cold-water sessions are for ages sixteen and over.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow allow 1½–2 hours around your booked session for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
