Peasholm Park and Glen

Peasholm changes the view from open sea to lake, trees and garden paths. Walk beside the water, look towards the island and pagoda, or spend longer following the glen. It is a useful North Bay pause in its own right; boats and performances are optional seasonal additions rather than the reason every visitor must come.

Before you go

Park entry and seasonal activities follow different rules. Check the council’s dated boat and café calendar before promising a ride or lunch; a free stroll remains a different outing from paid boating or a show.

Where to find it: North Bay area, around Peasholm Gap and Columbus Ravine, Scarborough.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary park entry is free. Boats, golf and some events cost extra and operate on seasonal calendars, subject to conditions. The current September 2026 boat programme is weekends only through 27 September; check the date before travelling for it.
Access and getting around: The council lists disabled access, but the island, glen and higher paths should not be assumed equally accessible. Choose a manageable lakeside section and ask for route-specific information if gradients or steps matter. Toilets are listed; confirm facilities for your visit.

Visiting with children: A short look around the lake can make a change from the beach. Supervise beside water. Check the seasonal event programme if a quieter lakeside visit matters; boating and other activities have their own suitability conditions.
