At the northern end of North Bay, the aquarium brings marine habitats into focus through tanks, the ocean tunnel and animal areas including penguins and seals. Choose it as the main family visit for this end of town, with time to watch behaviour rather than rushing between displays. The attraction includes outdoor areas as well as indoor galleries.

Before you go

Book the entry slot first and arrange how you will get to Scalby Mills. This is beyond the central seafront, and a wet walk along the whole bay may not be the start young children need.

Tickets and booking: Advance online booking is essential to guarantee entry, including reservations for relevant pass/open-ticket holders. A time-slot reservation alone is not an admission ticket. Check carer eligibility and book any special animal experience separately.
Access and getting around: An alternative accessible route and map cover the building; a lift in the shop serves the upper-floor turtle area and restaurant. Penguin Island admits one wheelchair at a time. There is an accessible ground-floor toilet; ask about your equipment and any current lift restrictions before travelling.

Visiting with children: Under-twos are advertised as free, but include everyone in the booking and check current child terms. Pushchairs are permitted, though staff request leaving them behind where practical in busy periods. Baby changing is available; bring layers for outdoor sections.
