Sheffield Botanical Gardens
The glass pavilions and broad lawns give way to smaller planted areas, winding paths and a historic bear pit. Choose a few gardens to explore slowly rather than trying to see every section. This is a landscape garden south-west of the centre, distinct from the compact city-centre Winter Garden.
Choose your entrance before travelling: Clarkehouse Road is at the top, Thompson Road is lower and the Botanical Road entrance uses a turnstile. Check the seasonal gate closing time and confirm pavilion hours if they are the reason for your visit.

- General entry is free. Garden gates lock at closing and seasonal hours shorten substantially in late October. Pavilions and events have separate availability. There is no general parking inside; food and travel remain extra costs.
- Access and getting around
- The gardens slope and have steps in places, with alternative wheelchair routes described by the Trust. Blue Badge parking is reached from Thompson Road. Plan your entrance and return climb; an alternative route may be longer than the most direct path.

- Explore plants, the fossil tree and the historic bear pit without expecting live bears. Supervise children near ponds; no tree climbing, ball games or feeding squirrels. For energetic play, this is a different kind of place from a playground.
