This is a short indoor garden visit rather than a large botanical attraction or a full afternoon’s entertainment.

Look at the contrast between the older chapels and the light of the modern entrance, then spend time with the heritage interpretation. It remains a working place of worship at the heart of Sheffield.

Follow small-scale craftsmanship through Little Mesters Street and compare it with the River Don Engine’s enormous scale. The museum works best as the main reason to visit Kelham Island, with a meal in the area afterwards.
Explore a rural scythe and steelworks where water, heat and skilled work shaped everyday tools. The surviving furnace, workshops and workers’ domestic spaces make a useful contrast with the larger machines at Kelham. Give this south Sheffield site its own outing, with time for the outdoor parts and a meal.
