Wardlaw Museum

The University of St Andrews’ museum brings together art, science, natural history and the ideas that have shaped the university. Four themed galleries and changing exhibitions make this a good indoor anchor near the castle. Explore a few objects in depth, use the family interactives, and add the outdoor terrace only if the conditions suit. This is separate from St Andrews Museum in Kinburn Park.

Check the current exhibition before travelling for a particular subject. The Learning Loft can be a quiet pause or packed-lunch space when it is not being used for an event.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary entry is free; the main museum page currently lists daily opening from 10am to 5pm. Check separately for workshops, events and exhibition changes. Older facilities text mentions evening activities, so confirm an advertised session instead of assuming routine late opening.
Access and getting around: Use the museum’s online pre-visit tour and contact museumenquiries@st-andrews.ac.uk to confirm the physical route, terrace access or other individual requirements.
