St Ives Harbour and Downalong
Follow the harbour frontage and explore a few of Downalong’s narrow streets for a first introduction to St Ives. Fishing boats, the tidal harbour and close-packed buildings make this distinct from the open beach on the other side of town. The museum’s heritage trail provides extra local context if you want more than a wander.
Stay on the streets for the simplest route. Harbour sand changes with the tide, and working areas, boat movements and exposed pier edges need space.

- Access and getting around
- This is a flexible street walk, not a verified step-free circuit. Surfaces, gradients, kerbs and narrow sections vary; choose a short section of the frontage rather than following every lane. Harbour steps and beach access are optional.

- Keep children close near vehicles, working boats and water. A short harbour look followed by lunch is often more useful than a long trail with tired children. Do not feed gulls; keep food covered.
