Guided townhouse tour / STIRLING
Argyll’s Lodging
The Unlocking Noble Stirling tour explores the Renaissance townhouse near the castle, with recreated interiors showing the setting of an aristocratic household. This is a scheduled, guided experience for visitors interested in rooms and social history. Give it its own afternoon slot rather than treating the house as a quick drop-in on the way down the hill.

Access is by selected tours, with a separate ticket from Stirling Castle. Check the live calendar before choosing your day; the new programme currently offers Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Castle Wynd, FK8 1EG
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- Book Unlocking Noble Stirling through the current HES calendar. Adult and child tickets are paid; member discounts are not free entry. Under-seven and carer tickets must also be reserved. Follow the booking confirmation’s meeting instructions and arrive early; the tour does not include castle admission.
- Access and getting around
- The tour includes about 150m outside through a graveyard, uneven surfaces, low narrow doors and stairs. There is no lift; upstairs requires 18 wooden steps with a handrail on one side. Ground-floor halls and kitchens are mainly level. HES describes side-gate access and a courtesy vehicle for part of the steep approach; confirm availability and a suitable route. An adapted toilet is listed.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- Allow for the full guided session and check whether the historic-house subject and standing time suit your children. Under-sevens still need a ticket. Ask about pushchairs before booking because the route includes narrow openings and an upper floor without a lift.
Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
