Swansea Museum
An older, smaller museum beside the maritime quarter gives Swansea’s own story room to unfold. Its galleries bring together everyday life, local objects and collections gathered over generations. Choose this when you would rather look closely at a handful of things than follow a large digital exhibition; it makes an interesting companion to the National Waterfront Museum without duplicating its industrial scale.

Phone on the day if you depend on the lift: the museum specifically asks visitors to check that it is working. The rear and side entrances avoid the front steps.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Victoria Road, Maritime Quarter, Swansea SA1 1SN.
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- Free general admission. Normally Tuesday–Sunday, closed Mondays except bank holidays. Check the main building’s current visitor information and last entry; separate museum sites have their own arrangements.
- Access and getting around
- Level access is at the rear and side. A lift serves the floors, but its operation should be confirmed before travel. Accessible toilets and limited disabled parking are available; ask staff about the most suitable arrival route.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- Baby changing and an outdoor picnic area help with a short family visit. A late-afternoon quiet period turns off screens and sounds; check last admission before using it. The separate Tramshed is not a guaranteed part of this visit.
Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Make it part of your day
