VENTNOR GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A garden visit shaped by the Undercliff / VENTNOR

Ventnor Botanic Garden

Give the botanic garden a proper stretch of time to explore its planting and sheltered setting. Choose a route through the areas that interest you and pause along the way, rather than rushing through on the way to the beach. The garden is an outdoor attraction first, with refreshments and historical context as useful additions.

Before you go

Register your vehicle as instructed when arriving: garden admission includes parking, but the ANPR system still needs your registration. Cove-only parking has separate terms.

The practical details

Where to find it
Undercliff Drive, Ventnor PO38 1UL
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Check current admission, seasonal closing time and any special-tour arrangements. Ordinary garden entry can be bought on arrival; card payment is the simplest option. Do not assume tunnel tours or other activities run daily.
Access and getting around
The operator provides a wheelchair-friendly route without steps. Ask for the suitable route and current conditions on arrival rather than assuming every garden path or onward coastal connection has the same access.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Make a short trail of interesting leaves and plants, with a food or rest break before children tire. The garden’s paths do not mean the route down to Steephill Cove is suitable for every pushchair.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 2–3 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
