Seasonal evenings / BLACKPOOL
Blackpool Illuminations
The Illuminations turn a seafront outing into a seasonal evening visit. Choose a section you can enjoy on foot and arrange a return journey, rather than making the whole long display route a compulsory walk. The announced 2026 season runs from 4 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, with nightly times varying. Photos show earlier displays; individual designs can change.

Eat before heading out, check that evening’s switch-on and switch-off times, and keep the walk shorter than your daytime stamina might suggest. Wind and a late finish can make the return feel much longer.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Seafront display route, Starr Gate to Red Bank Road
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- The street display is free; travel, parking and organised tours are separate. Check the current season and nightly timings before leaving. Outside the advertised season, do not plan on the Illuminations operating.
- Access and getting around
- View from a manageable promenade section and plan crossings, seating and the return stop in advance. Crowds, bright lights and moving traffic may be difficult for some visitors; an earlier, shorter outing can help.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- Agree a clear turning point and meeting place. A small illuminated section is a complete outing for young children; seeing the whole route is not necessary.
Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Make it part of your day
Allow allow 1–2 hours for a chosen section for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
