Before you go

The cathedral is closed to general visiting for university graduations from 14–18 September 2026. Check the dated restrictions before travelling, including later services and rehearsals; choose the Novium or Pallant House if your visit is affected.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary individual admission is by voluntary donation. Groups of six or more should book and pay the applicable group charge. Check current visiting hours, especially Sundays, and the tour calendar rather than assuming a guided tour runs every day. Special events have their own arrangements.
Access and getting around: Use the South West Door for step-free entry. Most main spaces, including the Nave, Lady Chapel and Cloisters, have step-free access; ask staff about removable ramps for the Quire. Accessible toilets and limited loan wheelchairs are available. Some areas still have steps, so discuss your route before joining a tour.

Visiting with children: Choose a few features to look for and use the seating when attention runs short. Leave time for a garden or park afterwards. Services and rehearsals can change both noise levels and which spaces are available.
