For a museum half-day, allow 60-90 minutes at Keswick Museum, a 45-60 minute lunch break and, if you still want another stop, around 15-20 minutes to walk to the Pencil Museum for an hour. These are editorial estimates; transfers remain outdoors and a slower pace needs more time. Check that the Pencil Museum is open on your date: closure for relocation is announced after 1 November 2026. For a shorter and cheaper version, choose just the museum whose subject you prefer and lunch. A theatre matinee can replace the two-museum plan, provided the programme, seats and finish time work. Do not assume there is a daytime performance every day, or leave buying seats until rain has brought everyone indoors. Keep a waterproof outer layer for the walk back and check return transport before an evening show.

Choose the production first: a theatre visit is tied to a performance, not simply to the building being open.
