Huer’s Hut exterior and coastal view

Visit the little white lookout associated with spotting pilchard shoals and signalling to Newquay’s fishermen. Its position above the bay helps make sense of the link between the sea and the harbour below. This is a short exterior-and-view stop, not a museum with a scheduled interior tour.

Before you go

Combine it with the harbour only if the climb and weather suit. The longer continuation around Towan Head is optional; turn back before the exposed route stops feeling enjoyable.

Tickets and booking: No booking for the public exterior viewpoint. Interior access is not promised. Visit in daylight and check local path notices; sunset should not become a reason to make an unfamiliar cliff walk in darkness.
Access and getting around: The approach is uphill and the hut area has uneven surfaces and steps. It is not a verified step-free circuit. Stay back from cliff edges, use established paths and avoid the exposed section in strong wind or poor visibility.

Visiting with children: Suitable for a brief history stop with children who can manage the climb under supervision. Explain the lookout’s role before arriving; there is no guaranteed indoor activity, playground or toilet stop here.
