NOTTINGHAM GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Park / NOTTINGHAM

Nottingham Arboretum

Tree collections, planted borders and historic park features offer a green pause north of the shopping centre. Follow part of the council’s tree or heritage trail, or simply choose a short circuit and a bench. This is a useful free outdoor destination in its own right, with enough variety for a slow walk without committing to a large country park.

Before you go

Use a toilet before arriving: the council currently lists no toilet provision. Check gate times and treat the seasonal café as optional.

The practical details

Where to find it
Waverley Street, Nottingham NG7 4HF; entrances also serve Arboretum Street, North Sherwood Street and Addison Street.
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Ordinary park entry is free. Check gate times and any event-specific arrangements; tram fares, food and parking remain separate.
Access and getting around
The council describes surfaced paths through most of the park. Some slopes are steep; choose a route from the site map that suits your group rather than assuming every circuit is level.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Try a short tree-spotting walk with time to rest. Arrange toilet and food stops outside the park; supervise children near water and do not depend on a café being open.

Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 45–90 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
