For an unhurried Lace Market date, reserve City of Caves if the underground route suits both of you, allowing about an hour including entry. Follow it with lunch for an hour and leave the rest flexible. Nottingham Contemporary’s galleries are currently closed for installation, so do not add the former exhibition stop; an open café or shop does not mean art is on view. The shorter alternative is the cave visit and lunch. If you prefer history above ground, make the castle your single two-to-three-hour main stop. All times are editorial estimates rather than a verified accessible itinerary. Compare the total for two adults before adding any tours. For a lower admission budget in dry weather, choose a modest Arboretum walk with facilities and food planned separately. Changing exhibitions will again offer a chance to compare reactions to different artists and media once gallery access resumes.
