Nottingham Contemporary’s galleries are temporarily closed for exhibition installation, as checked on 16 September 2026. The café and shop remain open, but they do not provide an exhibition visit. The venue advertises an exhibition launch on Thursday 8 October at 6.30pm; check the subsequent public programme before planning a free art visit. Changing exhibitions will again offer a chance to compare reactions to different artists and media once gallery access resumes.

- Gallery visiting is currently suspended for installation. The advertised 8 October evening launch is not a guarantee of ordinary daytime opening that day; confirm subsequent dates and any launch or event booking separately. When exhibitions resume, check the free-entry and booking arrangements. Café and shop access remains separate.
- Access and getting around
- The venue provides ear defenders, portable stools and exhibition access formats. Accessible toilets are available, but its Changing Places hoist is currently out of order; contact the team if this facility is essential. Read the full access statement for your route.

- During the installation closure, choose another main family attraction rather than promising an exhibition visit. When the galleries reopen, ask about the current show’s content and family resources; the previously reported ear-defender provision should be confirmed if needed.
