OMAGH GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Woodland paths and a family outdoor break / NEAR OMAGH

Gortin Glen Forest Park

Travel north of Omagh for the forest park’s walks and play facilities in the Sperrins landscape. Pick a route from the current trail information, keeping walking, cycling and other activity areas distinct. A short woodland visit can be enough without committing to the longest route.

Before you go

This is a separate journey of roughly six miles from Omagh, not a town-centre park. Check current trail conditions, gates and facilities before setting off, especially after strong wind or heavy rain.

The practical details

Where to find it
Gortin Glen, north of Omagh, County Tyrone
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Ordinary forest-park access and parking are free according to the regional tourism operator. Organised activities or services may be charged separately. Follow current local notices and seasonal opening arrangements.
Access and getting around
Forest paths vary in surface and gradient. Choose a marked route to suit the whole group and seek current advice about accessible facilities and any closures; an accessible play element does not make every forest trail accessible.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Combine a short signed walk with the play area, supervising around vehicles, water and activity routes. Walking paths and mountain-bike trails are not interchangeable. Bring suitable layers and footwear.

Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 1–3 hours according to route for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
