Family planning in Omagh starts with ages and the adult numbers available. At the leisure complex, the current rules require one adult for every child aged under four, and one adult for every two children aged four to seven. That can determine whether a swim works before the timetable or price does. Choose the right pool session, reserve any accessible changing you need and bring food plans with you because the café is currently closed. Allow enough time afterwards to change without a second timed booking pressing on the group. The Folk Park offers a different sort of family day, with movement between historic interiors and outdoor areas. Under-16s need an adult and younger children may enjoy a selected sequence of buildings more than a determination to see every display. Take layers for the walking sections and check temporary closures before describing the route to children. America Street is announced closed on 15–16 September 2026. Bikes and kick scooters are not permitted, so do not rely on them to bridge tired legs around the museum. For a simpler outdoor outing, use Gortin Glen’s play facilities and a short marked woodland trail. Keep away from dedicated cycling routes and turn back while the return still feels comfortable. A family show at Strule can work in poor weather or as a special event, but its actual age recommendation matters more than the venue name. The shorter version of the day is the swim alone or play plus a brief forest walk. Do not add Grange Park’s playground as a fallback: the council currently says it and the toilets are closed during redevelopment.

Ulster American Folk Park

Follow the story of migration from Ulster to North America through historic buildings, reconstructed settings and interpretation. The museum is outside Omagh, with outdoor journeys between its interiors, so it rewards a substantial visit with suitable footwear rather than a quick town-centre stop.

Strule Arts Centre

Choose a theatre, music or other programmed event at the town-centre arts venue. The performance programme gives an evening in Omagh a clear purpose, while gallery activity has its own schedule. Match the visit to an actual event rather than expecting a show whenever the building is open.

Gortin Glen Forest Park

Travel north of Omagh for the forest park’s walks and play facilities in the Sperrins landscape. Pick a route from the current trail information, keeping walking, cycling and other activity areas distinct. A short woodland visit can be enough without committing to the longest route.

Swimming at Omagh Leisure Complex

Use a public swimming session for an indoor activity, selecting the main, learner or toddler pool timetable to suit your group. Visitors can use pay-and-go arrangements without buying a membership. Book and plan around the pool session, not the longer opening hours of the whole complex.
