St Albans Cathedral
Look beyond the scale of the nave to find medieval wall paintings and the shrine of St Alban. A slow circuit gives these details more attention than a hurried photograph of the outside. The cathedral remains a working church, so choose your visiting time around worship and any announced restrictions.

Use the Welcome Centre entrance in Sumpter Yard; the West End is closed during visiting hours. Check the day’s notices before planning a full interior visit.

- General entry is free with donations welcome. Normally open daily 9am–5pm, subject to services and closures; special tours and events have their own booking terms.
- Access and getting around
- The cathedral provides step-free routes and accessible facilities; review its detailed access guide for your intended route. There is no visitor parking at the cathedral. Tower tours have separate requirements.
