A Roman morning and a park afternoon →
Begin at St Michael’s and keep the outdoor part flexible around the weather.
Open space over the Roman town / ST ALBANS
Make a relaxed park walk between the Roman remains and the green space below the cathedral. The surviving city wall and London Gate outline help connect the landscape to the museum’s objects. Choose a modest route with a rest stop rather than treating the entire park as a single attraction to complete.

Stay on open paths and follow local signs around the lake and river restoration areas. A longer circuit is optional, especially after a museum visit.

Allow 45–90 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
