A town day of art and maritime stories →
Two contrasting indoor visits with room for food and a short street walk.
A short walk through the town’s seafaring past / STROMNESS
Follow the winding main street at an unhurried pace, noticing old buildings, narrow lanes and glimpses of the harbour. Local heritage points help connect the town with ships, trade and journeys far beyond Orkney. Keep to public routes and respect the working waterfront and private closes; this is a compact town walk, not the long coastal route to Yesnaby.

Choose a short stretch and return the same way if the wind, wet flagstones or your energy make a longer walk less comfortable.
Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 45–90 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
