BLACKPOOL GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Animals & outdoors / BLACKPOOL

Blackpool Zoo

The zoo offers a longer, predominantly outdoor visit on the eastern side of town, away from the promenade’s line of attractions. Treat it as a place to slow down at a few habitats, rather than a checklist of every animal. Buildings offer some shelter, but the walking between them makes this a poor substitute for a fully indoor wet-weather day. A picnic or café stop halfway through helps families keep a comfortable pace.

Before you go

Pick two or three priority areas from the day’s map before setting off. Stanley Park can be an optional finish nearby, but the zoo alone can fill the available energy and daylight.

The practical details

Where to find it
East Park Drive, FY3 8PP
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Check opening and last-entry times, ticket options and any habitat notices. Car parking is an additional cost to check. This is an inland journey: use the current transport planner rather than expecting a seafront tram to reach the gate.
Access and getting around
The access guide records uneven surfaces as well as accessible public buildings. Limited wheelchair hire should be arranged in advance. Assistance dogs cannot enter the zoo; contact the venue before planning a visit with one.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Plan toilet and food stops into the route and allow time to linger. Animal visibility and individual habitat access are not guaranteed; avoid making one animal encounter the sole promise of the day.

Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
