Aghalurcher adds a different period of history outside the town, with a church ruin and burial ground that call for a quiet visit. Its lakeside location is part of the appeal, but kayaking, land activities and creative sessions follow different schedules. Crom is a separate journey, approximately seven miles from Lisnaskea. Give the estate enough time for the route you choose and check which facilities operate that season. Without a car, investigate the last part of each journey carefully: a nearby village bus stop is not necessarily close to an attraction entrance. Visit the roofless church and old burial ground at Aghalurcher to explore another layer of the area’s history, including its connections with the Maguire family. The setting rewards a slow look at surviving masonry and carved details, approached with the respect due to a cemetery.
Book an activity at this lakeside centre outside Lisnaskea, choosing from water, land or creative sessions according to the current programme. Kayaking offers a way to experience Upper Lough Erne with instruction, while a land session may suit visitors who would rather stay ashore.
Make a separate trip to the National Trust’s Crom estate for woodland, views across Upper Lough Erne and the old castle ruins. The appeal is the landscape and its wildlife, with routes that can be shortened or extended without treating every island or path as a compulsory target.
