Choose a small number of things the children will enjoy and build the breaks around them. Keep expectations around ordinary park use rather than assuming a programmed event is happening.
Enjoy the castle’s setting from the public paths and town streets, leaving time to stop beside the lakes and notice how the fortress shapes the town. This is a different outing from paid admission: the reward is the view and a flexible pace rather than access to halls or towers. Choose the mountain when fresh air and a wider view matter more than another indoor stop. Travel to Senghenydd for a thoughtful look at the people of the Aber Valley, including its mining communities and the disasters that shaped local memory. Objects, photographs and recorded stories give the visit a human scale. The separate memorial garden can be an outdoor addition, but the museum deserves time in its own right rather than a hurried detour.
