A Lough Neagh nature afternoon →
Give Oxford Island enough time for a selected walk and the facilities actually open that day.
Lough Neagh shore, wildlife and woodland / NEAR LURGAN
Make a separate outing to the peninsula at the southern edge of Lough Neagh for woodland paths, shore views and birdwatching. Despite its name, Oxford Island is reached by land. The Discovery Centre and play area offer useful starting points, while the reserve’s paths let you choose a quieter nature-focused visit.

This is a shore and nature visit, not a swimming recommendation. Follow current water-quality notices and keep children and dogs away from affected water or shoreline deposits.
Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1–3 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
