A free day around Lurgan is best built around the kind of outdoor visit you want. The town park gives you a lake, established trees and play close to the centre, while Oxford Island provides a separate Lough Neagh shore and nature-reserve outing. Both have free ordinary admission, but reaching them and buying refreshments still have costs. A short town visit does not need the transfer to the reserve simply because both appear in the same guide. In Lurgan Park, choose the main avenue and a modest section of the paths for a relaxed first visit. The lake circuit can be extended when energy and weather allow. Brownlow House is visible from the park, yet a guided interior visit is separately arranged and paid; do not treat the house as a free wet-weather substitute. Bookable sports and organised activities also have their own arrangements. Check the changing gate times if the walk is planned for later in the day. For a longer free outing, travel to Oxford Island with a picnic and spend time on a suitable reserve path. Check the centre’s opening if you need its toilets or exhibition, and follow the current shore and water-quality signs. Optional courses, hire and café purchases are outside ordinary free entry. A simple day can start in Lurgan Park, pause for lunch and continue to the reserve only if the transfer suits. The shorter alternative is to choose either location and explore it properly. Paid South Lake equipment hire is deliberately outside this free selection, even though some membership plans include it.
